Hjalteyri - Pilot Plant

Íslandsþari has had a 200 square meter facility at Hjalteyri in Eyjafjörður since 2022, where it is convenient to land kelp and conduct experiments on it. Specific equipment has been purchased and various processes have been tested relating to different stages in the processing of alginates.

This pilot plant is an important link in analyzing and determining which equipment is suitable for a larger plant. It is also necessary for the preparation and development of products for sale in the market. This is done through research and analysis of the composition of products, in order to adapt them to the requirements and needs of end customers.
